Barefoot Luxury: Crafting Furniture for the Maldives' Finest Resorts
June 1, 2026 · 2 min read

From Amilla Fushi to Dhigufaru and Hakuraa Huraa, see how we engineer solid-teak furniture that survives sun and sea while delivering effortless island elegance.
The Maldives is one of the most demanding environments in the world for furniture. Relentless sun, salt-laden air and constant humidity will punish anything that is not built to last. Yet the islands also demand a sense of effortless, barefoot luxury. Reconciling those two realities is exactly what Starwood Furniture set out to do across three of the region's standout resorts.
At Amilla Fushi in Baa Atoll, we delivered a complete fit-out for beach and over-water villas as well as dining and lounge venues. Every piece was crafted from sustainably sourced solid teak and finished to resist the elements while keeping the soft, tactile warmth that makes a villa feel like home.
Dhigufaru Island Resort called for furniture rooted in authentic Maldivian storytelling. We supplied beds, lounge seating, dining collections and outdoor pieces with clean lines and generous proportions, all built with marine-grade finishes to endure sun and sea spray.
At the intimate Hakuraa Huraa in Meemu Atoll, the focus was on pairing laid-back charm with serious durability. Solid-teak bedroom furniture, daybeds and loungers were finished to handle the over-water and beachfront setting without sacrificing comfort.
Across all three projects, the common thread is engineering that is invisible to the guest. The luxury you feel is matched by the resilience you don't see, and that balance is at the heart of how we approach resort furniture.
