How to Brief a Custom Furniture Manufacturer for a Hotel or Resort

The information designers, architects and procurement teams should prepare before requesting custom hospitality furniture.
A clear brief helps a custom furniture manufacturer quote accurately, prototype efficiently and produce furniture that matches the design intent. For hotels and resorts, missing information can lead to delays or expensive revisions.
Share drawings and quantities early
Room layouts, furniture schedules, elevation drawings and quantity breakdowns help the production team understand scale and complexity. Even preliminary files are useful if they are clearly marked as draft.
Define the use environment
Indoor room furniture, covered terrace furniture, full outdoor furniture and beachfront pieces all require different construction and finish thinking. Climate and maintenance expectations should be part of the brief.
Clarify finish, upholstery and hardware
Reference images are helpful, but specifications are better. Include desired wood tone, fabric performance, metal finish, hardware requirements and any brand standards.
Discuss samples and deadlines
For repeated hotel or resort pieces, sampling can protect the project. Share target approval dates, production deadlines and shipment windows so the manufacturer can plan realistically.
